Facebook Messenger has just received a new update that, according to it release notes, makes sending photos and emoji easier.
Actually, the latest update to the standalone messaging app of Facebook delivers but a couple of slight UI improvements.
First, the plus button for adding photos, emoji, and voice recordings has been replaced by a paper clip button, as in the main Facebook app.
Second, the photo selection screen has been tweaked to make it possible — finally! — to choose photos not only from Camera Roll but also from any other album. This means that you can now add photos from Instagram, that is, if you’ve set Instagram to automatically save your selfies, food pics, and whatnot to your device’s Photos app. Just tap the title bar in Facebook’s photo selection screen to choose your preferred album.
Of course, you can still add stickers to your Facebook messages by tapping the smiley button.
Support for stickers was added to Facebook Messenger three months ago, with only a few sticker packs initially available. But now, there are plenty of sticker packs that you can download for free from the sticker store, including Despicable Me 2 and Snoopy’s Moods.
Also including some bug fixes, the new version of Facebook Messenger is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later.
